Gary Dean Hadley, 80 of Belle Haven Road Hornell, passed away Sunday (Oct. 13, 2024) at St. James Hospital in Hornell.
Born in Hornell, Aug. 19, 1944, he was the son of Robert and Marjorie Payne Hadley. He was a graduate of Jasper Central School, Class of 1962, where he was also the Vice President of the FFA.
Gary was a lifelong resident of the area. He had been employed for 28 years as Driver & manager of the former Dunkirk Ice Cream in Hornell, after his retirement from Dunkirk Dean worked for multiple companies. A truck driver for Butler Transportation, Jasper NY. A truck driver for Dedicated Transportation in Allentown, PA. In addition to working several construction operator positions. As well as a bus driver for local Hornell Area Transit.
Gary proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force from 1962-1966.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Myrna Jean Hadley in 2020, his son, Robbie Hadley, and his sister, Cynthia Hadley McGregor.
Surviving are his daughters, Tammy (Mike) Donovan of Hornell, Lisa (James Panetta) Gardner of Hornell, his son, Jeremy (Gilliane) Hadley of Springwater, his sisters, Deborah (Carlin) Stephens of Jasper, Lori (Dan Olin) Drake of South Canisteo, his brothers, Steve (Richard) Hadley of Rochester, and Randall (Laurie McDaniels) Hadley of South Canisteo, six grandchildren, Mathew (Tiffany) Donovan, Robert (Kristina) Donovan, Christopher (Adriana) Gardner, Amanda (Antoine Moses) Gardner, Nathaniel Hadley and Abigail Hadley, 4 Great Grandchildren, Logan Donovan, Lea Donovan, Landon Donovan and Kayson Donovan.
Honoring Gary’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. Any contributions in Dean’s name can be made to the South Hornell Fire Company & Springwater Fire Company respectively.
Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home of Hornell is assisting the family with arrangements
