Gary David Cole, 77, longtime Hornell resident passed away Tuesday (July 15, 2025) at St. James Hospital.
Born in North Hornell, March 16, 1948, the son of Lloyd and Georgia Barber Cole, he had attended Hornell High School and had been employed at the former Corbin Wood Products, Conrail and DYCO Electronics, all in Hornell. He resided in Hornell until moving in 2002 to Fairport , returning to Hornell in 2019. Because of illness, he became a resident of the former Hornell Gardens, and Maple City Rehabilitation & Nursing Facility.
Gary enjoyed camping and spending time with his family and friends at Kanakadea Park for many years.
He was predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers, Richard and Raymond Cole, and a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and John Burlingame, also nieces Charla (Burlingame) Keehn of Ohio and Catherine Irene Cone of Hornell.
Surviving are his daughter, Katie Cole of Hornell, his son, Gary Cole Jr. (Jeannette Donovan) of Plattsburgh, and his former wife and friend, Judy Winiarski of Hornell, Many nieces and nephews.
Honoring Gary’s wishes there will be no calling hours or services. A Celebration Of Life will be held at a time and place to be announced.
