Robert M. Acker, 76, longtime Wellsville resident passed away Wednesday (Dec, 6, 2023) at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Bath.
Born in North Hornell Nov.3, 1947, he was the son of Lawrence “Bill” and Margaret Brown Acker. He was a graduate of Wellsville High School, class of 1965 and had attended SUNY Brockport.
Bob proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corp during the Viet Nam Era. He was employed at the NYS Department of Transportation in Hornell, but left that work to help his father in the operation of the former Acker’s Quaker State Station in Wellsville. Following that, he was employed in sales while residing in Florida, and for the Dish Network in Hornell.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brother William “Bill” Acker.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Stacey Acker and her mother Penny Acker both of Florida, his sister, Patricia (Tom) Cline of Wellsville, his long time companion, Dawn DeBock of Bolivar and his sister-in-law, Sally Acker of Bolivar, Several nieces and nephews.
Honoring Bob’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service with full military honors will be held in the Spring at Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo.
