Frederick J. Combs, 70, of 11 Spruce Street, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday (March 29, 2016) at St. James Mercy Hospital.
Born in Hornell, March 31, 1945, the son of Edgar and Elzora Spencer Combs, he had resided in several areas of the country during his military career, returning to Canisteo after his retirement from the military. Following his retirement, he was employed for 15 years at Crowley Foods in Arkport, and at the time of his death, was employed as a crossing guard for the Canisteo- Greenwood School District.
He was predeceased by his parents, two sisters, Ella Woodworth and Gloria Jean Scott, and his brother, Hiram "Philip" Combs.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Lewis Combs to whom he was married on October 23, 1965, his son, Jeffrey (Naomi) Combs of Alaska, two sisters, Betty Caple and Louella (Tom) Kittell of Hartsville, one brother, Edgar (Colleen) Combs of Fulton, and his four grandchildren, Alex, Aaron, Andrew and Kati Combs.
