Frank Thomas Smith Sr, 85, of
1880 Karr Valley Rd,passed away Sunday (November23, 2008) at home.
Born in Fremont, April 28, 1923, the son of James and Mary Hagadorn Smith, he had been a lifelong area resident, andhad served in the US Army during World War II from 1943-46. On June 29, 1946 he marriedEsther Hosmer Smith who survives. Frank was retiredfrom New York State as a heavy equipment operator, andwas a member of the Almond American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing,woodworking (making things for his family including gun cabinets, and anentertainment center), but most of all was a loving husband, father,grandfather and great grandfather.
He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Clifford, James,and Robert Smith, and sisters Esther Wise, Bessie Jackson, and Nora Hosmer.
He is survived by his wife Esther, 3 daughters Helen Fay ofSurprise, AZ, Roberta (Henry) DuFrane of Lancaster,Pamela (Brett) Brewster of East Aurora, 3 sons Frank Thomas Jr(Judy) Smith of Almond, Edward Lee (Elizabeth) Smith of Almond, and Jack Allan Sr (Tammy) Smith of Almond 23 grandchildren Danielle, Chad,Dustin, Brandon, Michael, Dave, Sharon, Shauna, Stephen, Katrina, Tommy, Erica,Elaine, Ed, Erin, Taelor, Cody, Brett II, Michael,Stacy, Jack, Craig, Travis, many great grandchildren, his sister Maryann Mulhollenof Canisteo, and brother Richard (Pamela) Smith of Arkport .
The family will be present 2-4 & 7-9 PM Tuesday, at the Bender - Brown &Powers Funeral Home,
354 CanisteoSt, Hornell.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, at 11:00 AM, Rev. Charles Emerson officiating. Burial will be in Almond Woodlawn Cemetery, with fullMilitary honors.
