Francis D. Schwartz 96, a resident of State Route 21, passed away Monday (Sept. 8, 2025) at his home. Born in Almond, February 10, 1929, he was the son of Fred and Lena Patrick Schwartz. Francis was a graduate of Alfred Almond Central School and had resided all his life in the Almond- Hornell Area.
Francis had been employed as an office clerk for the former Erie and Erie Lackawanna Railroad as well as Conrail. He was a member of Hillside Baptist Church in Hornell.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife. Elizabeth Hicks Schwartz in 2021, his son William Schwartz, and his brothers, Robert and Fred Schwartz.
Surviving are his sons, Donald (Dee) Schwartz of Colorado and James (Patricia) Schwartz of Hornell, 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday September 19th from 12:30 PM-1:30 PM at the Hillside Baptist Church, 805 County Route 66, Hornell, NY where funeral services will be held following calling hours. Rev. Craig Brittingham will officiate. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Almond.
Friends wishing to remember Francis are asked to consider a memorial contribution to Hillside Baptist Church.
