Flossie A. Smith of Hornell passed away Wednesday (June 8, 2011) at McAuley Manor following a long illness.
Flossie was born in Prattsburg, NY on October 13, 1926. She was the daughter of Ernest and Lillian (Eldred) Smith, she was one of many children. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her sister Carrie VanCise in 2001, and her long time companion, Donald Page in 1985.
Flossie is survived by her nephews Jerry, David, and James (Sandra) VanCise, her good friends Betty Flanagan and her family, and Sharon Francisco of Hornell. Flossie was one of those people who made friends easily, and she considered the staff at McAuley Manor, St. James Hospital, St James Dialysis unit, the staff from Public Health, the staff of Mercy Care adult day care, and the Hornell Ambulance crew, and many others to be her friends and family.
Flossie had a love of life that can be matched by few. She lived each day like it was her last and thoroughly enjoyed each and everyday. She will be missed by countless people.

Calling hours for Flossie will be at the Bender-Brown &Powers Funeral Home on Saturday from 1-3pm with a funeral service to follow. Burial will be at Almond Woodlawn Cemetery.
