Exal Kavin Preston

Drexal “Keever” K. Preston, age 79, of Arkport, passed away Wednesday October 2, 2024 at the Elderwood of Hornell Nursing Facility surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Hornell, New York on November 20, 1944, a son of the late Otis M. Preston and Flossie M. (Behn) Preston-Whitney.
Drexal was a 1963 graduate of Arkport Central High School and a 1965 graduate of SUNY Alfred.
“Keever” was a lifelong dairy farmer. In his youth, he was an avid horseman. His family and animals were always his top priority. He was an active member of the Canaseraga Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department, serving in multiple roles including fire chief for many of those years. He also served as Allegany County District Coordinator “2DC5” from 1978 - 2011. He enjoyed pulling tractors and was a member of the Western New York Tractor Puller’s Association. He also organized the annual fire department tractor pull for many years.
He is survived by his wife: Marlene (LaMonte) Preston of Arkport whom he married on May 31, 1986, 5 children: Tami (Gregory) Willis of Wyoming, Terri Preston of Arkport, Tawny Preston-Carle of Castile, Keven (Lyz Hall) Preston of Canaseraga, Kimberly (Aaron) Hulbert of Arkport: 4 grandchildren: Anthony (Amy McGinnis) Willis of Warsaw, Michael (Nicole Wagner) Willis of Wyoming, Haylee (Jeremy) Swain of Warsaw and Emmalene Hulbert of Arkport: 6 great grandchildren: a sister, a brother, three sisters-in-law and several nieces, nephews, friends and pets.
Along with his parents, Drexal is preceded in death by two brothers, a brother-in-law, and many beloved pets.
Visitation will be held on Saturday October 5th at the Larger Parish Church in Canaseraga from 11am – 2pm, immediately followed by services, then a luncheon at the Canaseraga Volunteer Fire and Rescue Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Canaseraga Volunteer Fire and Rescue at PO Box 322 Canaseraga NY 14822-0322 or the Hornell Area Humane Society 7649 Industrial Park Rd Hornell NY 14843.
