Eva C. Cary, 102, formerly

88 Cedar Street,passed away Monday (December 10, 2007) at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville.



Born in Hartsville,February 18, 1905, the daughter of Charles and Dollie McCallum VanWinkle, she had resided in Hornellmost of her life. In her early life, shewas employed at the former Osincup-Proctor Printing Company in Hornell. She was the oldest living member of ChristEpiscopal Church in Hornell.



She was a member and past officer of the former

Kate J. Jackson Court#39, Order of Amaranth of Dansville, the Deborah Chapter #364, Order of EasternStar of Dansville, and the Emmaus Shrine #17, White Shrine of Jerusalem ofHornell. Eva enjoyed crocheting andceramics.



She was predeceased by her parents, here 2 husbands, WillardSmith and Leland Cary, several sisters as well as her grandson, Willard "Butch" Smith Jr.



She is survived by 4 grandchildren, Dan Smith of Hornell,Judy Winters of Alfred Station, Roxanne (Jack) Halsey of Hartsville and SharonSmith of Hartsville, grand daughters-in-law, Barbara Smith of Arkport andArlene Smith of Penn Yann, several greatand great great grandchildren.

There will be no prior calling hours. Funeral services will be held at Christ Episcopal Church on Friday at 11 AM , Rev. ThomasGramley officiating. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery,Hornell.
