Esther S. Lacy, 92, formerly of County Route 15A, passed away Wednesday (November 14, 2012) at Updyke's Willow Ridge Quality Care Facility surrounded by her family.



Born in Almond, January 29, 1920, the daughter of Lloyd and Nettie Belle (Wright) Sanford, she resided most of her life in Canaseraga. Esther was a graduate of the Arkport Central School and retired as an Office Manager for the Robert B. Crowell Insurance Agency in Canaseraga. She was an active member of the Garwoods United Methodist Church and enjoyed cooking, canning, sewing and quilting. Esther was an avid collector, especially antiques and covered bridges. She was married to Hugh Lacy on November 28, 1942 who predeceased her in June, 1996.



In addition to her husband and parents Esther was predeceased by two sons; Stephen and Harold Lacy, one daughter-in-law; Darlene Lacy, one grandson; Donald Lacy, three brothers; Harley, Mike and Brice Sanford.



She is survived by two sons; Leon (Bonnie Miller) Lacy and Harvey (Sue) Lacy both of Canaseraga, five grandchildren; Dawn (Scott) Hamsher, Brian (Kelly) Lacy, Steve (Colleen) Lacy, Shannon (Shannon) Lacy and Andrea (Joel Oriend) Lacy, nine great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Honoring Esther's wishes there will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Saturday (November 17, 2012) at 11AM at the Garwoods United Methodist Church, Pastor Greg White, officiating. Burial will be in Canaseraga Cemetery.
