Esther L Austin, 85, of
East Main Street, passed away peacefullyWednesday, after a courageous battle with Lung cancer.
Born in Rochester,April 18, 1922,the daughter of James and Esther Brouter Johnson, shewas a lifelong area resident. On March 31, 1943 she married Ernest Austin who survives.Esther was a 27 year member of the Angelica Legion Auxillary,a former member of the Angelica Conservation Club as well as the NRA. She hadworked for Acme Electric in Cuba .Esther's interests included fishing, hunting, gardening, crafts and herpaintings.
She was predeceased by her son Ernest Austin Jr in 1959, her sister Gladys Button, and 2 brothers BillJohnson, and Elmer Johnson.
She is survived by her husband, of 64 years Ernest Austin, adaughter Sandra (Dan) Chan of Angelica, a son Gene (Jeanette) Austin ofAngelica, 3 sisters Ann Pierce of VT, Theresa Thornton of Houghton, and NoraLewis of Hornell, 3 brothers George "Humm" Johnson ofWellsville, David Johnson of Friendship, and James Johnson of Bolivar, 7grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren .
The family will be present 2-4 & 7-9 PM Monday, at the Brown & Powers FuneralHome,
101 West Ave.,Angelica, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00am, with the Rev. Marc Chamberlainofficiating. Burial will be at the Untilthe Day Dawn Cemetery.
