Ernest D. Austin, 93, of
221 East Main Street, passed away Tuesday(February 17, 2009)at the Bath VAMC.
Born in Scio, October 9, 1915, the son ofDavid and Alice Grismer Austin, he had been a lifelong area resident. Ernest servedour country in the US Army during World War II, and married Esther Johnson on March 31, 1943. He was aretired electrician from Union IBEW #139 out of Elmira, and had worked for over 30 years forCilano Electric in Hornell. Ernie was a musician with the Roamin Rangers, hadproudly built his own home, had worked on the sound system for many years atthe Rushford Labor Days, and was the local fixer upper.
He was predeceased by his wife Esther on May 9, 2007, and his sonErnest on November 12, 1959.
He is survived by a daughter Sandy (Dan) Chan of Angelica, ason Gene (Jean) Austin of Angelica, a brother Lloyd "Salty" Austin of MontourFalls, 5 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
The family will be present 2-4 & 7-9 PMWednesday, February 25, 2009, at the Brown & PowersFuneral Home,
101 West Ave.,Angelica, where Funeral services will be held on Thursday,at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. MarcChamberlain officiating. Burial will bein Until The Day Dawn Cemetery.
