Erma J. Marriott, 94, of

7603 Airport Road, passed away Saturday (April 21, 2007) at St. James Hospital.



Born in the Town Caneadea, April 28, 1912, thedaughter of Harvey and Rosemond Kelly Sears, she had attended district schools andlater graduated from Belfast High School, Class of1930. Erma devoted her life to familyand community. She had resided in Oramel until moving to Hornell about 3 years ago. She was a member of the Oramel United Methodist Church where she hadserved as trustee, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher andTreasurer. She was a 50 year member and past matron of Bartlett Chapter #411, Order of Eastern Star of the Stateof New York, in Belfast ; a 65 yearmember of the Sarah Ford Crosby Tent #100, Daughters of the Union Veterans ofthe Civil War ; a 50 year member of the Patrons of Husbandry in Belfast and Birdsall; member ofthe Catherine Schuyler Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of theAmerican Revolution; a 50 year member of the RebekahLodge in Fillmore; the Belfast Leisure Club and the Caneadea SeniorCitizens Erma had spent several wintersin Mission, Texas.



She was predeceased by her parents, her husbands, ClarenceJewell in 1978 and Melvin Marriott in 1995, as well as 3 brothers and 2sisters.



She is survived by her children, Jay Ell (Mary Lou) Jewellof Bartlett, Tennessee, Donald (Marjorie)Jewell of Hornell, E. Harvey (Mary) Jewell ofSioux Falls, South Dakota, and Gloria(Roger) Griffin of Bishopville, Grandchildren, Michele Leigh (Tim) Dillon,Nelson (Amy) Jewell, Dona Joi Freeman, Melody ElaineJewell, Eric Jewell, and Marcia Carol Griffin and 4 great grandchildren. Also surviving from hersecond marriage are 2 step-daughters, 1 step-son, 6 step-grandchildren, 14 stepgreat grandchildren, several nieces & nephews.

The family will be presentto receive friends on Wednesday from2-4 PM and 6 " 8PM at the Bender - Brown & PowersFuneral Home,

354 Canisteo St,Hornell. An Eastern Star MemorialService will be held at 6 PMWednesday at the funeral home. A prayer service will be held on Wednesday at 7:30 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Steve Jewell officiating. Friends may also call on Thursday from 1 PMuntil 2 PM at the Oramel United Methodist Churchwhere funeral services will followcalling hours at 2 PM with Pastor Charles Little officiating.Committal services will follow atthe Oramel Cemetery.
