Elizabeth R. Barnes, 81, of formerly of County Rt. 66, passed away Sunday (January 6, 2013) at Robert Packer Hospital, in Sayre, PA.



Born in Corning, December 27, 1931, the daughter of Floyd and Ethel (Bellinger) Partridge, she had resided in the Hornell area most of her life. Elizabeth was a graduate of the Southside High School class of 1949. She worked for the Chemung Canal Bank in Elmira for many years and worked for many area doctors the last being Dr. James Kelly and Dr. Robert Hammond. Elizabeth was a member of the Hornell United Methodist Church and the Red Hat Society. She also was a member of the Sew Sew Blanket Ministry that made blankets for ill people regardless of their religious denomination.



In addition to her parents Elizabeth was predeceased by her by her husband Harold S. Barnes in 2001.



She is survived by two sons; William (Elizabeth) Barnes of Canisteo and Michael (Linda) Barnes of Andover, one daughter; Pamela Ann Howard of Albany, one sister; Barbara Stanton of Horseheads, one sister-in-law; Loretta Canada of KY, as well as six granddaughters; Lindsey (Joel) White, Kristina, Jessica and Brittney Barnes, Amanda (Justin) Warner and Michelle Barnes, two great granddaughters; Lauren and Audrey White.

The family will be present to receive friends from 2-4Pm and from 6-8Pm on Tuesday (January 8, 2013), at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11Am. Burial will be with her husband in Bath National Cemetery.
