Eleanor “Elly” Griffin 80 a resident of the Woodlands, passed away Tuesday (April 29, 2025) at Noyes Hospital in Dansville surrounded by her family.
Born in Wellsville, August 21, 1944, she was the daughter of Paul and Florilla Warner Wilson. She was a graduate of Belmont High School, class of 1962, she had resided in Phillips Creek during her early life prior to living in Almond before moving to Hornell in 1968.
Elly had been a bus driver for the Allegany County ARC, and was a teacher’s aide for 27 years at the Hornell Campus of BOCES.
She was predeceased by her parents, her grandson, Nathan Griffin and her foster sister, Ethel Caruso.
Surviving are 4 sons, Michael (Karen) Griffin of Webster, Matthew (Louann) Griffin of Fremont, Patrick (Michele) Griffin of Ohio, and Jeffrey (Stacey) Griffin of Painted Post, 2 sisters, Georgia (Larry) Wigent of Arkansas and Elaine McKee of North Carolina, 11 Grandchildren, Jessica (Kyle) Maurer, Aaron (Brittany) Griffin, Chelsea Griffin, Timothy (Savannah) Griffin, Emily (Gage) Teishinger, James Griffin, Charles Griffin, Shane Griffin, Andrew Griffin, Jacob Griffin and Anna Griffin, 3 great grandchildren, Addison Maurer, Lyle Griffin and Sage Teishinger, nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. The family will observe a private visitation and funeral service at the Bender-Brown& Powers Funeral Home in Hornell with Rev. Michelle Ormsby Serra officiating. The burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery, Belmont.
