Eldred O. Brotzman, 94, formerly of SouthCanisteo, entered into eternal rest with our heavenly father,Sunday (March 29, 2009)at St. James Hospital.
Born in Jasper, NY, April 9, 1914, the son of Harry and Ina (Dunkle) Brotzman;he and Evelyn Kelley of Hornell were married in the parsonage at the South Canisteo Methodist Churchon December 22, 1939.Together they raised four sons on the family farm in SouthCanisteo. Eldred was a 34 year employee of the Erie and Erie-Lackawanna Railroads as abrakeman and conductor before his retirement in 1974. He was a member of theUnited Methodist Church of Canisteo, former member of the Loyal Order of theMoose in Hornell and a member of the Morning Star Lodge #65 F & AM inCanisteo. Eldred dearly loved his family, his hometown of Jasper and enjoyedcamping, hunting and fishing.
He was predeceased by his parents as well as his son, FredBrotzman in 1998.
He is survived by his loving wife Evelyn of Hornell Gardens;his sons, Lynn (Barbara) Brotzman of Hornell, Larry (Stella) Brotzman ofGulfport MS and William Lee (Teresa) Brotzman of Gastonia NC, and long timefriends Rod and Doreen Teribury of Canisteo, nine grandchildren and manygreat-grandchildren.
The family will be present to receive friends from 4-7pmThursday, April 2, 2009, at the Bender-Brown& Powers Funeral Home,
354Canisteo St. Hornell where a Masonic Service willbe held at 7:00PM followedby the funeral service at 7:15PM. Burial will be in Jasper Cemetery.
