Elberta “Bobbi” Herbert 92, a resident of Dunning Road in Canisteo, passed away Monday (Nov. 20, 2023) at the Maple City Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Hornell.
Born in Friendship, New York, May 16, 1931, she was the daughter of Frederick and Agnes Horton Watkins. Bobbi spent her early life in Friendship, later living in Hornell, Bath and Canisteo. She was employed as a Nurses’s Aide at St James Mercy Hospital, later she returned to school and received her CNA License, and worked at the Bath VAMC until her retirement in 1985. Her memberships included the former Eagles Club in Hornell, the Hornell Moose Lodge, and she was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hornell VFW.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph L, Herbert, two sons, Gerald and Frederic Herbert, and her sister, Betty Erskine.
Surviving are 3 daughters, Juli (Bob) Evans of Canisteo, Judy (Mark Teagarden) Studley of Canisteo and Mary Jo Price of Canisteo, 2 sons, Ralph Herbert of Hornell, Raymond (Trudy) Herbert of Alfred Station. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, several great and great great grandchildren, special niece, Bonnie George of Almond and her very special canine friend “Romeo”.
There will be no calling hours or services. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Almond.
