Elaine T. Adam, 75, of Maple Street, passed away Monday evening (July 9, 2018) at the Vincent House in Wayland following a courageous battle with cancer.
Elaine was born April 20, 1943 at her grandparents' home in Pultney, NY to Bernard and Josephine (Kennedy) Thompson. Elaine graduated from Middlesex Valley Central School, 1960, Rushville, NY, Geneva School Practical Nursing 1961 and St. James School of Nursing in Hornell in 1975. On July 14, 1962 at the Gorham Methodist Church, Elaine married Gerald (Jerry) Adam who survives. Elaine worked for 25 years at St. James Mercy Hospital. Recent years she worked for Tri County Family Medicine and Steuben County Public Health. She was a former member of the Canisteo Methodist Church and a current member of the Canisteo Wesleyan Church where she loved helping with women's and children's ministries and later with missions.
She was predeceased by her father Bernard Thompson, a sister-in-law; Connie Thompson, a son-in-law; Richard Simons and a nephew; Benjamin Thompson.
She is survived by her loving husband Jerry of Canisteo, her dear mother; Josephine Thompson of Middlesex, her children; Sandra (Joseph) Federico of Rushville, Michael (Suzanne) Adam of Howard and Karen Simons of Canisteo, her precious grandchildren; Jessica (Joshua) Ferguson of Howard, Maria Adam of Alfred, Caleb (Jessica) Adam of Canastota, NY, Laura Simons, Lindsey Simons and Adam Simons all of Canisteo, 3 great-grandchildren; Kendra, Alivia and Josiah Ferguson all of Howard, 2 brothers; Lewis (Phyllis) Thompson of Rushville and Roger (Pauline) Thompson of North Carolina as well as several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will be present on Friday (July 13, 2018) from 5-8PM, at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce St., Canisteo and again on Saturday from 10-11AM at the Canisteo Wesleyan Church, 25 Greenwood St., Canisteo where funeral services will be held immediately following calling hours at 11AM Rev. Shannon Brumfield and Rev. Donald Maynard officiating. Burial will be in Shuman Cemetery, Gorham.
