Edward J. Volkmar, 75, of 4761 State Route 19S, passed away peacefully Wednesday (June 20, 2012) at his home.



Born in Rochester, March 10, 1937, the son of Edward and Caroline (Gress) Volkmar Sr., he was a lifelong area resident. Ed owned and operated the American House & Hotel with his wife Patty for many years, retiring after 22 years. He had also worked for Local #832 of Rochester as an operating engineer, and had also owned and operated the VoLyon Strawberry Farm for many years. Ed was a member of several clubs including the Belmont American Legion Post 808, the Angelica Masonic Lodge #818 serving as past master 4 times, the Shriners, the Scottish Rite, the Angelica Rod & Gun Club, and a life member of the Springwater Rod & Gun Club, the Sons of Lake Erie, and had enjoyed attending the Genesis Bible Church. Ed enjoyed retirement wintering in Florida for 16 years, fishing, hunting, and truck pulling.



He was predeceased by his parents his brother Clarence Volkmar, and his sister Dorothy Wettich.



He is survived by his loving wife Patricia "Patty" (Lyon) Volkmar whom he married on July 4, 1973, a daughter Stephanie (Bill) Coombes of Belmont, 3 sons David (Yvonne) Volkmar of Florida, Scott Volkmar of Arkport, and James "Jay" Evoy of Belmont, 8 grandchildren 4 great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews.



The family will be present 2-4 & 7-9PM Sunday, with a Masonic Service at 8:30pm, June 24, 2012, at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 101 West Ave., Angelica, where Funeral services will be held on Monday, at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Marc Chamberlain officiating. Burial will be in Until the Day Dawn Cemetery.
