Edward G "Eddie" Dowd

Edward G Dowd, 86, of 7366 Old County Rd 26, formerly of West Almond went to be with the Lord, Thursday (August 20, 2009) at St. James Hospital in Hornell.
Born in West Almond, November 27, 1922, the son of Lloyd and Florence Gibson Dowd, he had been a lifelong area resident and graduated from the former Wilsonian School. Eddie was a retired bus driver from Angelica Central School, had also owned and operated his own insurance business, and had been a farmer for many years. He was a member of the Belfast United Methodist Church, The Birdsall Grange, The Chemung Antique Car Club, and previously been a 44 year Town Board member in West Almond.
He was predeceased by his parents, his son Robert Dowd, and brothers Lloyd Jr, Walter, and Gerald Dowd.
He is survived by his wife Elnora Vincent Jennings Dowd, his daughter Deborah (Dan) Ford of Angelica, his sons James (Donielle) Dowd of Angelica, William Dowd of Angelica, many grandchildren, several great grandchildren, step children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brother George Dowd of Texas, and sister Mary Bryant of Virginia.
The family will be present 2-4 & 7-9 PM Saturday, at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 101 West Ave., Angelica, where Funeral services will be held on Sunday, at 2:00 PM, with the Rev. David Cooke officiating. Burial will be in Until The Day Dawn Cemetery.
