Earl B. Reitnauer, 83, of 6100 Ashbaugh Hill Road, passed away Thursday (March 2, 2017) at the Hornell Gardens.
Born in Hornell, October 20, 1933, the son of Christopher and Jesse (Baxter) Reitnauer, he was a lifelong area resident. Earl was a self-employed woodworker, and was well known for his fine craftsmanship. He was also was a gifted musician, playing the guitar, mandolin, and banjo, and had been a member of several local bands, and was even heard on the radio in the 1950's. Earl enjoyed hunting, fishing, and could be found at JC's cafe´ for breakfast, lunch and dinner. He will be greatly missed by his family, and many friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Sandra Jamison Reitnauer in 1997, his infant son Michael in 1968, and his sister Arlita Benjamin and her husband Phillip Benjamin.
He is survived by his 2 sons Alan (Corinne) Reitnauer of Hornell, David (Elisha) Reitnauer of Hornell, 4 grandchildren Justin, Alison, Emily, and Jamie Reitnauer, 2 great grandchildren Merle Watts and Layla Reitnauer, step grandson Rayyan Buell, special nephew Harold (Mary) Benjamin as well as several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday (March 7, 2017), at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home 354 Canisteo Street in Hornell from 4-6pm. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo.
