Dorothy Isaman Jones
Arkport - Dorothy Isaman Jones, 90, of 8789 Isaman Road, Arkport, NY, passed away at her home, under the loving care of family, caregivers and CareFirst/Hospice and went to her eternal rest with Jesus on Tuesday, November 20, 2012.
Born on August 19, 1922, on Twin Elms Farm, in the town of Fremont, she was the daughter of Samuel and Jessie Isaman. She had two brothers, Edmond and Gerald Hayward, who predeceased her. She was a 1938 graduate of Hornell High School.
Dorothy was married on December 27, 1941, to Wendell H. Jones who predeceased her on October 31, 2001. She is survived by three sons, Kelvin S. (JoAnne) Jones, Allen W. (Shari) Jones, Philip G. (Chris) Jones, and one daughter, MarySue (Don) Thompson; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
She was a life-long member of Haskinville Wesleyan Church, serving as treasurer, church board member, pianist and, for nearly 70 years, as a Sunday School teacher. She also loved to arrange flowers from her garden to share at church and with others.
Dorothy had many passions in life including her faith, family and the farm. She was often found studying the Scriptures, writing articles, or giving a Gideon Bible to anyone she met. Her love for her family was made evident through her prayers, hospitality (molasses cookies), and care for others. She was also known for her outstanding pies. Life on the Twin Elms Guernsey Farm provided many years of joy and hard work.

Calling hours are from 2 to 4PM and 7 to 9PM, Thursday, November 29, at the Bender, Brown and Powers Funeral Home in Hornell, NY. The funeral service will be held at Haskinville Wesleyan Church, Cohocton, NY on Friday, November 30, at 10:00AM. Committal services and interment will follow at the Perkinsville Cemetery in Perkinsville, NY.
