Doris D. Welles, 99, formerly of Stephens Street, passed away Friday (April 19, 2013) at McAuley Manor.



Born in Hornell, May 25, 1913, the daughter of Frank W. and Jennie Fairbanks Dickey, she had resided most all her life in the Hornell- Canisteo area. She was a graduate of Hornell High School, Class of 1931 and had been employed for several years as a secretary and Administrative Assistant at the former Schnurle Agency in Canisteo. Doris was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Hornell, Ivanhoe Chapter #160 Order of Eastern Star, as well as the former Canisteo Evening Group.



She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Ivan Welles in 1977, and 3 sisters, Josie Wilcox, Mildred Glover and Marguerite Frank.



She is survived by one daughter: Susan (Alan) Glenday of Rochester, one son: Charles "Dick" Welles of Canisteo, 2 grandchildren, Molly Mammosser-Nero and her husband Mark of Rochester, and Kenneth Hecker of Conesus, several nieces & nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce St., Canisteo, on Monday evening from 5 until 7PM at which time a Funeral services will be held with Fr. John Andrews officiating. Burial will be in Hornell Rural Cemetery.
