Doris Cummings, 78, formerly of Olean, passed away Friday (October 24, 2014) at the Hornell Gardens.



Born in Codroy Pond, Newfoundland , September 9, 1936, the daughter of Basil and Catherine Benoit Cormier, she had resided in Olean for many years before moving to Florida where she resided nearly 17 years. Doris came to Hornell in 2012. While residing in Olean, she was employed in the food service department at Olean General Hospital.



She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Alfred Cummings Jr. in 2012, as well as her brother, James Cormier and nephew Darren George.



She is survived by her daughter, Kathyron (Kevin) Maine of Canisteo, four sisters, Norma Stuckless of Ontario, Ursula Lake, Theresa George and Edna Harnett all of Alberta, Canada, two brothers, Bernie Cormier of Nova Scotia, and Raymond Cormier of Newfoundland, several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews.

Honoring Doris' wishes, there will be no visiting hours. Family and friends may attend a graveside service at Bath National Cemetery on Friday (Oct. 31, 2014) at 2PM.
