Donald R Foremandied June 30, 2005,at St. James Mercy Hospital from complications from Chronic ObstructivePulmonary Disease (COPD). Don was born in Hornell,NY on Nov. 16, 1929, the son of Arthur Sr. and Viola (Riopelle)Foreman.



He is survived by his wife June (Wright) Foreman of 55 yearsand three daughters-Ann(Ron)Noniewicz of Angelica, Kathryn (Keith) Shafer ofBelfast and Judy (Bill) Horton of Angelica; a brother Arthur Foreman of Arkportand sisters in law Rita Foreman and Tinky Foreman of Hornell; 10 grandchildren,three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Don was predeceased by his parents, a sister KathrynLawrence and a brother John Foreman.



Don is a graduate of Hornell High Schooland will be remembered for his abilities on the basketball court where heplayed with distinction. After receiving a full scholarship to play basketball,Don graduated from Canisius College as seniorco-captain of the Golden Griffs. Completing his Masters Degree at Alfred University,Don and his family moved to Angelica in 1955.

In his first position at Angelica Central, Don was a belovedBusiness teacher and coach where he led the Red Raiders to two Section VChampionships victories, one as a boys coach in 1962 and then with the girls in1977. In his educational career Don was a guidance counselor for Angelica and Belfast Schools before moving intoadministration as the Supervising Principal at Angelica Central. Instrumentalin opening the BOCES center in Belmont,he later became Assistant Director and Curriculum Coordinator of the center,before retiring from education in 1985.

Don will also be remembered for his numerous activitiesoutside of his educational career: as a security guard at Dresser-Rand in Wellsville, Mayor of Angelica, Secretaryof the Allegany County Athletic Assoc., IAABO basketball official, youth leaguecoach, OES Angelica Chapter #231 andMelrose Lodge #0818 F&AM Angelica, as well as a member in good standing ofthe Angelica United Methodist Church. Don was inducted into the Hornell SportsHall of Fame and the Allegany county SportsHall of Fame and was just recently honored with the Boardsmanship Awardfrom the Allegany/Cattaraugus Counties School Board Assoc. as school boardmember of the year.

In recent years Don was most visible as a member of theBoards of Education of Genesee Valley CSD and the Allegany/Cattaraugus BOCES.During his tenure he could be seen at most every school event with hisgranddaughter Torie. His genuine concern, positive attitude, friendly demeanorand years of wisdom combined with an active interest in the operation of theschool system made him a community favorite and he will be missed.
