Travis age 85, passed away at his home on Wednesday (June 7, 2023) in the Town of Fremont on Big Creek Road. He was born in Hornell, NY on July 10, 1937 the son of Harry Travis and Leila Blunt Travis and graduated from Hornell High School. Don was retired from the NYSDOT in Hornell as a Senior Engineer working in the Highway Planning Department, and also owned Don’s small engine repair. In his early years he enjoyed camping and fishing and later in life gardening, cooking and baking. Don loved his family and family traditions, get togethers , especially holiday meals and Christmas cookie season. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Virginia Carlin Travis, his son James Dean Travis, his brother Glenn Travis, his sisters Ruth Travis Wilder, Delores Travis Wildman, Beverly Travis Dixon. He is survived by his daughter Michele Travis Stuckey (Frank) Eichinger of Hornell, Mark Andrew (Michelle) Travis of Hornell, 8 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. The family will be present to receive friends on Monday (June 12, 2023) from 5-7pm at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home in Hornell, where a funeral service will take place at the conclusion of calling hours at 7pm with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating.
