Donald L. Charles, 67, of Stephens Street, passed away Tuesday (October 25, 2016) at home surrounded by his family.
Born in Hornell, NY, October 25, 1949, the son of William and Marjorie Stone Charles, he had resided in the Canisteo area his whole life. He was a graduate of Canisteo Central School Class of 1968. Don was employed by Foster Wheeler of Dansville as a welding inspector and later he worked for St. James Mercy Hospital in their maintenance department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Nascar, football and loved being in the outdoors working on his yard. One of Don's greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents and 2 sisters, Sandy Hayner and Janet "Squeak" Charles.
He is survived by his wife, Kim Charles of Canisteo, 1 son, Michael (Jennifer Wing) Charles of Canisteo, 2 daughters, Jodie (Russell) Pierce of Canisteo and Candice (Marc) Priest of New Jersey, 6 grandchildren, Allison Pierce, Maddie Priest, Chase Priest, Garrett Charles, Lily Priest and Kendall Charles, 2 brothers, William Charles of South Canisteo and Robert (Betty Lou) Charles of Hartsville, 2 sisters, Beverly (Larry) Powers of Canisteo and Rita Stewart of Canisteo, as well as several nieces and nephews.
