Donald A. Buchinger,94, of

21 Russell Street,passed away Tuesday (January 18, 2005) at McAuley Manor.



Born in Hunt, October 1, 1910, the daughterof John and Ida Flint Buchinger,he had resided in Canisteo since 1952. Don had attended a one room school in the Huntand Daltonareas and later owned and operated Don'sAlignment Service and Don's Texaco Station in Canisteo. He was employed as an operating engineer andmechanic for the former Volkswagen Garage in Hornell, and PlotzkerConstruction Company in Rochester. He was proud of the work he performed inbuilding the Mt. Morris Dam. He later was a school bus driver for theCanisteo School System.



Don was a member of the First Baptist Church in Canisteo, aformer member of the Canisteo Fire Dept. and was active as a Cub Scout Masterin Canisteo. He was a booster member at the Canisteo American Legion Post.



He was predeceased by his wife, Carolyn Scholes Buchinger in 2003, his son,Earl Buchinger in 1949 as well as his 2 sisters, Fern Smith and Dora McCarthy,and 2 brothers, William and Richard Buchinger.



He is survived by five daughters: Elaine (Jim) Baker of Canisteo, Patricia (John) Meyer of Canisteo, Sally Willis of Canisteo, Harriett (William) West, of Portageville, and Gladys Strain of Nunda; four sons: James (Paula) Buchinger of Canisteo, Donald "Boochie" Buchinger of Canisteo, Glen (Beverly)Buchinger of Nunda and Marlie(Lois) Buchinger of Nunda. 21Grandchildren, 39 Great Grandchildren, 12 Great GreatGrandchildren, nieces & nephews.

6 Spruce St., Canisteo. Where funeral services will be held on Fridayevening at 7 :00 PM, Rev. Brian Diffenbacher officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery,Canisteo.
