Obituary

Donald G. Beckwith

Donald G. Beckwith, 75, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, June 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on August 27, 1950, Don was the son of the late Harrison and Dorthea Beckwith. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Kathryn Beckwith; and his grandson, William Lyon.

On November 22, 1969, Don married the love of his life, Karen Wells. Together they shared more than 56 years of marriage, building a life filled with love, laughter, family, and unwavering devotion to one another.

Don attended Alfred State College, where he studied Building Trades before beginning the career he was meant for. He spent 36 years with Cold Spring Construction, helping build bridges throughout the region. He took great pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic, craftsmanship, and willingness to lend a helping hand.

The outdoors was where Don felt most at home. Whether he was hunting, fishing, riding his side-by-side, or simply sitting on the porch watching the deer, birds, and squirrels, he found joy in nature's simple pleasures. He never seemed to run out of projects to work on and always enjoyed tinkering around outside. He was also known to jokingly complain about the blue jays that interrupted the peaceful wildlife he loved to watch.

Don was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially cheering for Rusty Wallace-or anyone behind the wheel of the No. 2 car. He took pride in making homemade wine, enjoyed sharing a little whiskey with family and friends, and loved hosting cookouts and family gatherings where everyone felt welcome.

More than anything, Don loved his family. His greatest happiness came from being surrounded by those he loved, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. His quiet strength, kindness, sense of humor, and dependable nature made him someone his family could always count on.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Karen Beckwith; his brothers, Mike and Ron Beckwith; his children, Donny, Darcy, Kandy(Bob), Dawn, and Anson(Christina); his grandchildren, Peter, Michael, Brittany, Dakota, Alyssa, Haylee, Austin, Jayden, Paige, and Sommer; and his great-grandchildren, Lewis, Walker, Ariella, Coraline, Charlotte, Kingston, Brayden, and Juno, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

In his final days, Don often spoke about fishing, a lifelong passion that brought him peace and happiness. One of the last things he ever said, with the quiet optimism that reflected the way he lived his life, was, "Maybe they'll be biting tomorrow." Those words will forever remain in the hearts of the family who loved him.

Don's legacy lives on through the bridges he built, the family he cherished, and the countless memories he created outdoors with those he loved. He will be deeply missed every day, remembered with love, and never forgotten.

Calling hours will be on Sunday (June 28, 2026) from 2-5pm at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home in Angelica. Burial will be at the Until the Day Dawn Cemetery.
