Dieter Kramer

Bishopville

Dieter Kramer, 77, passed away suddenly on December 22, 2014. Born in the village of Kochendorf in the Schwabenland of Germany to the late Sophie and Eugene Kramer, he moved with his family to the United States as a young teenager during the aftermath of the Second World War. The Kramers soon settled in Bishopville, NY, where Dieter would lead a life that would endear him to the people around him. While a student at Arkport Central School he worked at Crowley's Dairy at night to help support his family, exampling a work ethic he would always be known for, and beginning an employment he would continue for 44 years. Following graduation, he spent two years in the United States Army and married Lois (Bash) Kramer, his wife of 54 years.

Dieter started every day early and made every moment count. He cared for the people and animals around him, and little for material possessions. He was a genuine and enthusiastic outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, gardenin gand being in the woods. He especially loved horses and could often be seen on the roads of Bishopville in a buggy pulled by haflingers or with percherons and a cart. Other hobbies included woodworking and wine-making, and he often helped his son, David, on the farm that Dieter's father had owned. Most of all he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and spending time with his family. He only ever smiled, and had a natural passion for life that affected those around him.

In addition to Lois, Dieter is survived by his three sisters Lydia (John) Donnelly, Edith (Melvin) Bash and Marlene (Peter) Sirianni, and five children, which include David (Kim)Kramer, Lorri (Derrick) Dennis, Dan (Rebbeca) Kramer, Tim(Bernadette) Kramer, and Rosie (Craig) Lattin. He also leaves behind eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at the Bishopville United Methodist Church at the convenience of the family.
