Diane M. Marando, 61, of 2670 Main Street, passed away Monday (June 7, 2010) at St. James Mercy Hospital.



Born in Buffalo, February 28, 1949, the daughter of Ray L. and Lois A. Fawcett Thering, she had resided in Buffalo and Rochester before making her home in Greenwood in 1982. She was employed as an inspector of food services for the State of New York. She was a member of Our Lady Of The Valley Parish, and a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Rexville. She was currently the owner and operator of the "Country Garden", a garden center operated during the months of May and June in Andover, and active in the operation of the "Angelica Country Store". Diane will be remembered for her love of "collectables".



She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Harry L. Marando in 1981.



She is survived by her sister, Joan (Lawrence) Mamat of Sanborn, her brother, Ray (Amy) Thering of Minnesota, nieces & nephews, David Mamat, Debby King, Steven Mamat, Tricia Bowen, Jon Thering, Danny Thering and Jake Thering, great nieces & great nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Friday, and 11 AM until 1 PM Saturday at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce St., Canisteo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church in Rexville on Saturday at 1:30 PM. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
