Debra A. Baker, 71, of 5054 State Route 244, Belmont, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at home with her devoted husband by her side.

Born in Wellsville on February 10, 1955, Deb was the daughter of the late Donald Trowbridge and Vivian (Thompson) Trowbridge. She grew up in a large family with eight siblings. Deb attended Frontier Central School and later earned an associate degree from Alfred State College. She previously worked at Alfred State College as an executive secretary and operated her own medical transcription business, serving area doctors. Later in life, she operated the Precious Memories Alpaca Farm in Belmont, NY.

On July 28, 2001 in Belmont, NY she was married to Ronald W. Baker, who survives. She affectionately referred to him simply as "Husband" and in return she was "Wife". Together, they were fortunate enough to celebrate 25 years of marriage.

Deb had a knack for making friends that became family wherever she went. She had an extensive "family of friends" that stretched across borders, from Canada to Mexico and everywhere in between. Deb cherished the years she was able to call Puerto Villarta, Mexico, home. While there she immersed herself in local culture, visiting favorite local restaurants and beaches and attending as many community events as she could.

It comes as no surprise that Deb was a Godsend to many underprivileged families, children, and stray animals that lived in Puerto Villarta. She loved the community there and gave back as often and in as many ways as she could. She had a gift for recognizing those in need and a natural desire to want to help, whether it meant baking all day for a fundraiser, preparing meals for strangers in need, or donating goods and her time.

That giving spirit was still with her when she returned to Belmont to spend her final years at home. She never stopped looking for ways to help others, especially those she cared about. Being supportive of and advocating for the families of murder victims was especially close to her heart.

Deb's personalized birthday wishes for her friends and family will be missed by many for years to come. She also especially loved her Buffalo Bills. May this be the year--just once--for Deb.

Deb is survived by three sons, Michael (Jennifer) Crandall, Steve (Lori) Crandall, all of Texas, and Robert (Christina) Smith of Nevada, a stepson, Dylan Baker, and a stepdaughter, Shanae Baker. She also loved and cherished 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. "Grandma Deb" along with "Grandpa Ron" had devoted themselves to raising one of their grandsons, Xandar Smith, for the last 8 years.

In addition to her parents, Deb was predeceased by two sisters, a son, Kevin Smith; a daughter, Tammy Renee Smith; and a longtime companion, Russell Flint.

May all who were ever on the receiving end of her joyous laugh or her pointing finger never forget the love that was behind it.

The family is being assisted by Brown & Powers Funeral Home of Angelica. Per Deb's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Family and friends will gather at Forest Hills Cemetery in Belmont, NY for a private graveside burial on August 27th, 2026, at 11:00am. In her memory, please extend a helping hand to someone in need.
