Dawn M. Lawson, 57, of 6819 Laine Road, passed away unexpectedly onWednesday (February 10, 2016) at St James Mercy Hospital.



Born in North Hornell, November 17, 1958, the daughter of Ralph P, and Carol Hurne Wheeler, she had resided in the Hornell area all her life. She was a graduate of Hornell High School and had attended both Corning Community College and SUNY Geneseo, and had received her associates degree. She had been employed at the former Harold's Army-Navy Store in Hornell and on the maintenance staff at the New York State Department of Transportation Building in Hornell.



Dawn had attended the Sovereign Grace Baptist Church and the New Hope Wesleyan Church in Hornell. Dawn will be remembered for the great admiration she had for her pets and all animals.



She was predeceased by her father, Ralph P. Wheeler in 1991.



She is survived by her husband, Jerry Lawson of Hornell, her mother, Carol Wheeler of Hornell, her sisters, Linda (Jerry) Partridge of North Hornell, Robin (Duane) Alleger of Cameron and Sharon (Roger) Woodruff of Hartsville, her brother, Richard (Cheryl) Wheeler of Hornell, several nieces and nephews and her canine friends, Sparky and Jacky.

The family will be present to receive friends on Monday, February 15, 2016, at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Doug Jones officiating. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery, Hornell.
