David E. Wilson Sr., 77, of Tuttle Rd., passed away Saturday (April 30, 2011) at St. James Hospital.
Born in Canisteo, March 5, 1934, the son of Charles L. and Bessie (Knight) Wilson, he had resided in the Hornell area all his life. David was a graduate of the Canisteo Central School class of 1954 and retired as a machinist from Foster-Wheeler in Dansville. David also worked at the TA Truck Stop in Dansville. He was a member of the former Hornell Eagles club, the Hornell Moose Lodge and was an active volunteer for the Salvation Army. David was a licensed electrician and was a handyman to many. He loved to work but most of all he loved his family.
He was predeceased by his parents, one son; David E. Wilson Jr., one daughter; Julie Ann Wilson, daughter-in-law, Melissa Wilson, one brother; Donald Wilson.
He is survived by his wife Betty (Tuttle) Wilson whom he married on June 10, 1954, one son; Oscar Wilson of Rochester, two daughters; Linda (Dan) Lambert of Avoca and Nancy (Pecky) Pettibone of Hornell, grandchildren, Heather (Ben) Joseph, Dave Wilson III, James Lambert and Ashley Wilson, great grandchildren, Haley Joseph, Eric Joseph and Taylor Lambert, one brother; LeRoy (Helen) Wilson of Corning, two sisters; Martha Hults of Addison and Mary Ella (John) Kernan of Canisteo, several nieces and nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends from 1Pm until 3Pm and from 6Pm until 8Pm on Tuesday (May 3, 2011), at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell. Funeral services will follow calling hours at 8Pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canisteo.
