Pastor David P. Olcott

Angelica/Marietta

Pastor David P. Olcott, 89, of 40 Horner Road, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday (February 7, 2017) at the Wellsville Manor.

Born in Syracuse, February 26, 1927, he was the son of Eugene Cecil Olcott II and Hazel Mae (Samson) Olcott. Just after graduation he served in World War II, where he received the World War II Victory Medal. After his discharge from the Army, he married the love of his life Bernice J. Krakau Olcott, whom he married on October 15, 1949. David went to Bible School in Westfield, Indiana and was in the ministry from 1956-2011. He and his wife served in several different churches, retiring from Rose Hill Baptist Church, which was his first and last church. He was in the ministry for over 50 years. David enjoyed gardening, flowers, and later in life watching birds. Pastor Olcott will be fondly remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor, and a sparkle in his eye that could light up a room.

He was predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers and 4 sisters, and a granddaughter Nicole Lynn LaDue.

He is survived by his wife Bernice J. Olcott of Angelica, 2 sons Stephen D. (Michelle) Olcott of Blair, WI, Nathan (Lori) Olcott of Angelica, 2 daughters Bonnie (Terry) LaDue of Lee, FL, Miriam (Thomas) Proefrock of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, a brother Carus (Mary) Olcott of Myrtle Beach, SC, 9 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren, as well as nieces, and nephews.

The family will be present 5-8pm Friday, February 10, 2017, at the Angelica Baptist Church and at the Rose Hill Baptist Church (Marietta, New York) on Saturday, February 11, from 12pm-2:00 PM, where a funeral service will take place at 2:00pm with Pastor David Ford, and Pastor Greg Olcott officiating. Burial will be in Thorn Hill Cemetery at a later date.
