David H. "Shorty" Terwilliger, 62, of
7219 N. Main St. Ext., passed away Monday(June 30, 2008)shortly after arrival at St. James Hospital.
Born in Lackawana, September 29, 1945, the sonof Harlow and Florence McComb Terwilliger, he had resided all his life in the Hornell-Arkport area. He was a graduate of Arkport Central School, Class of 1963, andserved in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967. Following his discharge from the service, hewas employed by the former Overhead Door Company in Canisteo. For the past 33years, Dave was an excavating contactor, establishing the D.H. Terwilliger Contracting in 1975. He was a 25 year member ofthe Arkport American Legion, the LICA Contractors Association and J.C.'s Cafe Coffee Club. Davewas an avid Drag Racing Fan, and drag raced at Niagara Drag Strip. He enjoyed collecting "Hess" and "Texaco"model tanker trucks, and John Deere collectables and Pedal Cars.Dave was also known by many as maintenance engineer for his wife's salonShear Perfection.
He was predeceased by his father Harlow in 1992, and nieceLisa A Babcock in 1995.
He is survived by his wife Jo Ann McEachronTerwilliger whom he married Feb. 9, 1979, his mother,Florence Terwilliger of Hornell, 2 sisters Lois A (Stanley)Babcockof Arkport, Carolyn(Claude) Meyers of Spencerport, two brothers James (Kay) Terwilliger of Hornell,Stephen Terwilliger of Cortland, 1 Aunt andUncle, nieces, nephews and cousins. Dave is also survived by his 3 four leggedfriends, Eli, Elam , Elliott.

The family will be present 2-4 & 7-9 PM Wednesday, at the Bender - Brown &Powers Funeral Home,
354 CanisteoSt, Hornell, where Private Funeral services willbe held on Thursday, with the Rev. Steven Jewell officiating. Burial will be in Arkport Cemetery.
