Daniel Howard "Boone" "Boonie" Lyon

Daniel Lyon age 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (September 8, 2026) at the Wellsville Manor.

He was born in Huntington, NY on June 21, 1936 the son of Howard Daniel Lyon and Ruth Anne Marie Rossrucker Lyon, and was a lifelong area resident. Boone had been a farmer, logger, sawmill operator, maple syrup maker, and retired from Allegany County as a Road Maintenance Supervisor where he worked from 1963-1991. On February 13, 1954 he married Lillian Nathan Lyon who survives. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and especially fly fishing.

He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Christine Lyon Barron, his brother John Lyon, his sons Jack Lyon, and Daniel "Hound" Lyon, and his grandson Timothy Lyon.

He is survived by his wife Lillian Lyon, his sons Mark (Donna) Lyon of Crystal Lake, Russell (Joni) Lyon of Angelica, his daughters Joni (Larry) Crutchley of MD, Jill Lyon Shelton (Steve Rapp) of Macedon, Renee Lyon of Wellsville, his daughter in law Laurie Lyon of Angelica, his sisters Patricia Volkmar of Belmont, Michelle Lyon of Texas, and Jennifer Lyon of Angelica, several grand and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Graveside Service will be on Tuesday (September 15, 2026) at the Until the Day Dawn Cemetery in Angelica at 11:00am.
