Conrad C. Hilsdorf, 99, of Slate Creek Road, passed away early Friday morning (April 13, 2018) at St. James Hospital.



Born in Hornellsville, April 25, 1918, a son of Conrad C. and Louise Knopf Hilsdorf, he had resided in the Hornell and Canisteo areas most of his life. Connie was a graduate of Alfred Almond Central School. He worked for the former Corbin Wood Product Co. in Hornell for 19 years and then was employed in the Maintenance Department of Alfred University. He was a trustee and deacon of the United Presbyterian Church of Hornell. He enjoyed making cabinets and grandfather clocks as well as gardening. Conrad honorably served his country during WWII in the United States Navy aboard the USS Bennington, which was an Aircraft Carrier CV20.



He was predeceased by his parents, his first wife; Irene (Rossman), his brothers George, Charles and Herman Hilsdorf, sisters; Mable Shuster, Celia Lons, Ethel Diehl and Clara Clark.



He is survived by his wife Eloise (Mullen) Hilsdorf of Canisteo, 2 daughters; Sandra (Douglas) Clifford of Boston, Mass. and Corinne (Edward) Mistretta of Charleston, SC, a son; Carl (Eileen) Hilsdorf of Bishopville, a sister; Mary Preston, 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will be present on Monday (April 16, 2018) from 6-8PM, at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce, Canisteo. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10AM at the funeral home, Pastor Brendan Clancy officiating. Burial will be in Alfred Rural Cemetery.
