Claude W. Booth,86, of

18 West Academy Street,passed away Monday (December13, 2004) at McAuley Manor in North Hornell surrounded by his loving family.



Born in LeRoy, December 25, 1917, the son of WilliamL. and Ida M. Totten Booth, he moved to Canisteo at the age of 5 andresided all his life there. Claude was a graduate of the former Canisteo Academy , Class of 1937. He was employed at Empire Foods for 10years, and later was store manager atthe former De´cor Center North in Hornell for 10 years prior to his retirement. He was a75 year member of the First Presbyterian Church in Canisteo and had served astrustee and chairman of Building and Grounds.He was active for several years as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader inthe Steuben Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. He had served as President of the CanisteoRotary Club from___________________, and during his presidency was instrumentalin building the pavilion at Rotary Park on State Route 36 inCanisteo. He had also been a member ofthe Buds 'N Blossoms Square Dancing Club.



Claude will be most remembered for the love showed to hiswife, Ruth, and their 6 children. One of his greatest joys was spending timewith his family at their property in Vermont.



He was predeceased by his sister Georgia Booth, his brothers, Georgeand Philip as well as his grandson, Tony Muffoletto.



He is survived by his wife, Ruth Lockwood Booth, whom hemarried January 22, 1938, 3 daughters, Joyce (Stephen) Venter of Canisteo,Valerie (Robert) Nixon of Canisteo and Lori Ann (Michael) Przytulaof Virginia Beach; his 3 sons, William (Isobel) Booth of Stow, Mass, James(Cynthia) Booth of Hornellsville, and Thomas (Candy)Booth of Canisteo; his sister, Carol (Philip) Fritz of Wayland, 24Grandchildren, 37 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great GreatGrandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.



The family will be present to receive friends from 6PM - 9PMFriday at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home,

6Spruce St., Canisteoand on Saturday from 3 until 4 PMat Somers Hall in Canisteo. A Memoria Service will be held at the Canisteo FirstPresbyterian Church following calling hours at 4:00 PM. Rev. Todd Haines will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of thefamily.
