Claire H. Randolph, 86, of 79 South Main St., Passed away Friday (July 15, 2011) in St. James Mercy Hospital.
Born in Buffalo, July 18, 1924, the daughter of Walter and Esther Denison Haswell, she had resided in Alfred since about 1947. She received her bachelors degree in Music Education from Syracuse University and her bachelors degree in Elementary Education from the State University of New York at Geneseo. Claire taught second grade at Alfred Almond Central School for several years. She was a member of the Alfred Seventh Day Baptist Church and the Seventh Day Baptist Women's Society, OP SHOP, Pi Alpha Pi at Alfred and Pi Phi of Syracuse, the Amadine Club, RRM Book Club, a member of the board of Alfred Rural Cemetery, and the Alfred Historical Society.
She was predeceased by her parents, 2 brothers Walter and Peter Haswell, 1 sister Ruth Haswell.
She is survived by her husband Winfield, her 2 sons Peter (Ann Spies) FitzRandolph and Robert (Lois Ann) FitzRandoph both of Canton NY, 1 daughter Susan (Bruce) Picard of Keeseville NY, 3 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial service will be held at the Alfred Seventh Day Baptist Church on Monday, July 18, 2011 at 11:00 AM, Rev. Patricia Bancroft officiating. A reception for family and friends will immediately follow the service at the Parish House. Burial will be in Alfred Rural Cemetery.
