Christine Ruth Pollinger O’Connor

Christine O’Connor age 81 of Fulton Street, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2024 at UR St James Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Hornell, NY the daughter of the late Richard Pollinger and Ruth Langs Pollinger, she was a lifelong area resident and graduate of Hornell High School, and then graduating from the Arnot Ogden School of Nursing as a RN. Her nursing career had her working in the Elmira area, Cleveland, Ohio, and lastly at the former Bethesda Community Hospital. Christine was a very active member of the former Westminster Presbyterian Church including teaching Bible Study, and was a lifelong member of the Hornell Moose Lodge. Early on she enjoyed bowling, basketball, swimming, and softball, and more recently loved to tend to her numerous gardens including her veggie and flower gardens. Christine was an avid reader, and huge fan of the New York Mets, and the Buffalo Bills. A loyal mother and friend to many, she will always be remembered for always putting family first and bending over backwards for anybody in need.
She was predeceased by her parents Richard and Ruth, her husband John O’Connor in 2007, and her brother Dale Pollinger.
She is survived by her daughters Rebecca (Harmon) Katz of PA, Elizabeth (Terry) VanScoter of Arkport, her step children Stephen O’Connor, Scott (Sandra) O’Connor, and Cheryl “Annie” (Paul) DelMonte all of FL, her sister Kathy (Allen) Angel of FL, her 5 grandchildren Austin, Jeremy, Brianna, Morgan, and Allison, 7 step grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many loyal friends.
The family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday (March 26, 2024) from 4-7pm at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home 354 Canisteo Street in Hornell, where a Funeral Service to follow at 7:00pm. Burial will be at Bath National Cemetery next to her husband John.
