Cheryl Marlene Owen, ne´e Pataye
Angelica
Cheryl Owen, 60, of 4383 County Road 2 passed away in peace and comfort on Monday December 17, 2012 at Cuba Memorial Hospital after a short battle with cancer.
Born in Buffalo, she was a lifelong resident of Western New York. She worked for the Fisher-Price Toy Company in East Aurora and later sold Vigortone feed products, winning numerous sales awards. She raised cattle and horses and held a lifelong love of farming and country life, and while never able to finish college she prized education and learning throughout her life. In 1978 she went to work for United Parcel Service as a loader and delivery driver, and settled in Angelica on the estate of the Allegany County Home in 1983. She retired in 1995.
A lifelong advocate for the poor she purchased the County Home property with hopes of turning it into a facility for the care of disadvantaged children and victims of abuse. Cheryl was a compassionate, loving and proud woman, ever ready to offer what help she could to those in need.
She is predeceased by her mother Winifred and her father.
She is survived by her two sons, William and Jason of Brooklyn, and her brothers Clinton Pataye, of Farmersville, and Calvin Pataye, of Delevan.
