Cheryl J. Creeley, 71, of McDougal Avenue Hornell, passed peacefully at home Sunday with her family at her side following courageous battles with pulmonary fibrosis and breast cancer.
Born in Hornell, June 25, 1953, the daughter of Warren and Barbara Hallett Harwood. She resided in Hornell her entire life. Cherie will be lovingly remembered by many friends and her large family with a great sense of humor and wasn’t afraid to tell it like it is. She was “Crossroads” greatest groupie. She enjoyed time with friends and family at the Moose Club playing darts and pool and trips to the casino.
She spent most of her career working as a book keeper for various businesses including Maple City Computers, Harwood Car Care, Wilkins RV, ATS powder coating and Fred Langs Insurance.
She was predeceased by her parents Warren and Barbara Hallett Harwood; sisters; Linda Kerr, Bonnie Turner, Wanda Lewis and Patricia Bebout and brother Francis “Larry” Harwood. She is survived by her loving husband Ronald Creeley of Hornell who spent 46 wonderful years together as one; sons Casey (Shelly) Snyder of Almond, Brock Creeley of Livonia and daughter Carrie Hanchett (Thomas Gross) of Hornell; 5 granddaughters, Brieanna Hanchett, Arianna Hanchett, Julieanna Hanchett, Amya Snyder, Kayla Snyder, grandson Riley McElwain and great grandson Levi Briggs; Brothers Russell (Carolyn) Harwood and Gary (Melody) Harwood as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews
The family will be present to receive friends on Saturday (Nov. 30, 2024) at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo Street in Hornell from 11 AM until 2:00 PM. The Women of the Moose will conduct a memorial service at 1:45 PM and a funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM.
