Charlotte Weaver, 87, of Haskinsville passed away peacefully Friday, November 11, 2011 at home.
She was born on July 12, 1924 at her family's home on Neils Creek, the daughter of the late Ernest and Arline Freeman Mattoon. She was a lifelong area resident and graduated from Avoca Central School Class of 1943. She married Homer Weaver on June 15, 1957.
Charlotte was a long time member and past president of the Haskinsville Better Homes and Garden Club. For over 25 years she recorded the amount of rainfall and snow as well as the daily temperature for the National Weather Bureau. Charlotte recently received her 60 year pin from the Stephens Mills Grange. She was past master of the Neils Creek Grange and was very active there. She served on the Fremont Board of Elections for many years. She will be remembered by many for the loving care she gave to her mother during her long illness. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her friends and her family, especially her granddaughters.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Homer in 1984, and by her son-in-law Doug Baker. She is survived by her daughter, Kay Baker, two granddaughters, Kristen Clancy and Megan Clancy, both of Haskinsville, a brother, Wilmot Mattoon of Tucson, AZ, two sisters, Eleanor (Allan) Archer of Benson, AZ and Sandy (Richard) Mosman of Tucson, AZ, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on November 19 at the Haskinsville Wesleyan Church. Burial will be in Greenville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers friends may make memorial contributions to The Haskinville Wesleyan Church or to a charity of their choice.
