Charles A. Wood, 93, of
1 Maiden Lane, Arkport, formerly ofCanisteo, passed away Friday (May 30, 2008) at VincentHouse in Wayland.
Born in Wrights, PA, February 14, 1915, the son of Charles R. and Dora Barber Wood,he had resided in the Canisteo area all his life. Charles had been employed inauto body work in the Canisteo and Bathareas for many years. He was the oldestliving member of the Canisteo Wesleyan Church, where he hadtaught Sunday School for several years, was a member of the Church's Board ofDirectors, former Trustee, Head Usher for many years as well as Layleader of the Church .
He was predeceased by his parents, his wives, FlossieHowland Wood in 1993, and Eleanor Silsby Wood in 2006, his son, Rev. Bradley Wood in 1989, his brother Clyde Wood in 2004 and hisgrandsons, Michael Berg and Timothy Sanford .
He is survived by his daughters, Bonnie Sanford and BarbaraHouse of Canisteo, Becky (Robert) Love of Franklinville and Marla Green ofCherry Creek, his sister, Dorothy (Llewelyn) Robinsonof Stephens Mills, 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, several nieces &nephews.
The family will be present to receive friends on Tuesdayfrom 12 Noon until 2 PMat the Brown & Powers Funeral Home,
6 Spruce St., Canisteowhere funeral services will follow calling hours at 2 PM. Rev. Donald Maynard will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery,Canisteo.
