Charles E. Stark (Charlie), 91, of Angelica NY passed away peacefully September 20, 2026, at the Hart Comfort House in Wellsville, NY. Charlie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to those who knew him. He always had a story to tell, or an opinion to give. Let's not forget that he was the "Mayor of the East End" to everyone who knew him.

Born July 5, 1935, in Erie, PA, he started school in Allentown, NY before attending Angelica Central School starting in the 4th grade. During his school career, he was active in sports as well as the FFA.

After graduation, Charlie entered the United States Army where he served his country for 2 years in Germany. After leaving the Army, Charlie returned to Angelica. He started working for The Davey Tree company before getting a job at Dresser Rand in Wellsville where he eventually retired.

He was a member of several organizations during his life. He was the past President of the Angelica Hose Company, past Commander of the American Legion Post 414 in Angelica, and also a member of the local chapter of the Masons. One of his favorite groups was his morning coffee club with close friends at the Fire Hall every morning.

Charlie was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Susie Stark, his twin brother, Robert LaRuche, and his niece, Susan LaRuche. Surviving is his wife of 57 years Mary Ellen Stark and his 3 daughters, Heather (Clint) Nickens of Angelica, Pamela (Murray) Onnen of Florida and Paula Patrick of Perry, NY along with his sister-in-law Mary Lou LaRuche and Beverly (Vincent) Evans. He has several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

His greatest friendship was with his grandson, Hunter Nickens. You could always find the two of them doing something together; whether it was going out for coffee in the evenings, taking a golf cart ride uptown, or just hanging out at the house.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday September 25, 2026, from 3:00-7:00 PM, at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 101 West Ave, Angelica, NY. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday September 26, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home, with Pastor David Ford officiating. A graveside committal service with Military Honors will be held directly after, at Until the Day Dawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make donations to the Hart Comfort House, 141 E State Street, Wellsville, NY 14895.
