Charles A. Holbrook, 90, of 8933 County Rd 52, passed away Saturday (April 7, 2018) at Elderwood at Hornell, in North Hornell.
Born in Perkinsville, NY, April 22, 1927, the son of Arthur J. and Edna (Hughes) Holbrook, he was a lifelong Dansville, and Arkport area resident. He joined the US Army and proudly served during World War II. Chuck retired from the former Foster-Wheeler as a lift truck operator after 32 years. He was a member of the Young at Heart Senior Club, and enjoyed fishing and camping.
He was predeceased by his parents, 6 sisters Alice Mott, Frances Mott, Nellie Humphrey, Viola, Shirley Canfield, Jessie Prevorce, 3 brothers Edward Fox, Clair Holbrook, Raymond Holbrook, 2 step sons Michael Holbrook, and Terry Holbrook.
He is survived by his wife Pearl Kryger Holbrook, whom he married on August 14, 1967, 3 sons Charles G. (Margaret) Holbrook of Dansville, Roger L. (Betty) Holbrook of Canaseraga, Gerald A. Holbrook of Dansville, daughter Jeanne (Gary) Cartwright of Hornell, step sons Mark (Linda) Holbrook of Arkport, Tim (Cindy) Holbrook of Fla, Kendall Stafford of Hornell, 2 step daughter in laws Cheryl Holbrook of Arkport and Teresa Holbrook of Dansville,2 sisters Mae Taylor of Mt. Morris, Betty Holbrook of Jamestown, several grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
The family will be present 12-2pm Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo Street in Hornell, where Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, with the Rev. Paul Palmer officiating. Burial will be in Heritage Hill Cemetery in Arkport.
