Charles W. Biddle, 82, of West Ave, passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a courageous battle with lung diseases Thursday night (April 12, 2018) at the Bath VAMC.
Born in Hornell, NY, January 14, 1936, the son of Ward and Pauline (Ross) Biddle, he had resided in the Hornell area most of his life, except for the 22 years he spent honorably serving his country in the US Coast Guard. Charles was a former member of the Moose Club and currently was a member of the Arkport American Legion. Charles was an avid coin collector. Many knew him for his company C.B. Vacuum Service. He could fix anything, he simply loved to putter.
He was predeceased by his parents, 3 brothers; Richard, Paul and Dana Biddle and 3 sisters; Joyce Mess, Phylis Carpenter and Carolyn Weichman.
He is survived by 2 sons; Lyle (Ann) Biddle of Rochester and Warren (Assel) Biddle of Orange County California, 1 daughter; Kinda (John) Doud, 2 granddaughters; Elena and Sophia Biddle, 2 sisters; Kay Marie Wyant and Clio Gerbes as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will be present on Monday (April 16, 2018) from 3-5PM, at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell where funeral services will be held immediately following calling hours at 5PM, Chaplain Gerald Hamblin officiating. Burial will be in Bath National Cemetery on Tuesday.
