Charles N. Bertram, 86,formerly of
1190 Webbs Crossing Road and SawyerStreet Site, passed away Saturday (April 19, 2008) at St. James Hospital.
Born in Hornell, December 30, 1921, the sonof Charles C. and Mayme GoodrichBertram, he had resided all his lifein Hornell and Canisteo. Chuck was a member of the Hornell Moose Lodgeand the IOOF Lodge # 251 of Hornell. Heloved bingo and was employed as a Bingo Inspector for the City of Hornell and Town of Hornellsville for 30years. He had been employed at theformer D.L. Fishers Store in Canisteo, a short time for the former ErieRailroad, and at Loblaw's Grocery Store in Hornell for several years.Chuck was also employed at the Acquinas Center,and in the kitchen at St. James MercyHospital. He will be most remembered asa "Greeter" at the former K- Mart in Hornell and the Hornell Wal-Mart.
He was predeceased by his wife, Bernadine Bertram on July 13, 2001, and his halfsister, Marjorie Dennison.
He is survived by 2sons, Gerald ( Beverly)Bertram of Canisteo and Terry (Janet) Bertram of Hornell, 4 grandchildren,Cathy Baker, Christopher Bertram, Mark Bertram and Kurt Bertram as well as 3great grandchildren, Kelsie Baker, Callie Baker andJack Bertram.
The family will be presentto receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Tuesday at the Bender - Brown & Powers FuneralHome, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell. Funeralservices will be held on Wednesday (April 23, 2008) at 11amat the funeral home with Rev. David Kilgore officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery,Canisteo.
