Charles Robert "Bob" Beckwith, 80, formerly of 107 Center Street passed away Sunday (November 8, 2009) in Houghton.
Born in Angelica, January 9, 1929, the son of William Jess and Louise Rutz Beckwith, he was a lifelong area resident. Bob graduated from Wilsonian High School in Angelica Class of 1946, and later went on to proudly serve our country in the 82nd Airborne Division and the 187th Regimental Combat Team from 1946-49, and 1953-55, being award many medals including the World War II Victory Medal, the Occupation Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the National Defense Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. Bob was also a humble member of AA, beating his alcholism since 1980, and was also a member of CCAC. He was a retired Iron Worker from Union Local #6 out of Orchard Park.
He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Charlene Hamilton, 5 brothers David, Frank, Jim, Bruce and Eugene "Bud" Beckwith.
He is survived by Maxine Beckwith of Angelica, 4 daughters Jeni (Joseph) DeMarco of Nunda, Robin (Daniel) Green Jr of Florida, Tracy Perkins (Shirley Bowen) of Rochester, Carla (Kirby) Kiser of Nunda, 1 son William Jess (Penny) Beckwith of Lake View, a sister Marcella Slade of TX, a brother John Edward "Jack" Beckwith of NH, his beloved 12 grandchildren Shelly, Sarah and Jess Beckwith, Chelsea, Andrea, Cheyenne DeMarco, Jacqueline, Daniel III, Christopher Green, Stephanie Perkins, Atticus, Lilly Kiser, and 2 great grandsons.
The family will be present 2-4 & 7-9 PM Tuesday, at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 101 West Ave., Angelica, where Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, at 11:00 AM.
Friends may make memorial contributions to: The Alzheimers Assoc, the Parkinsons Foundation, and the Angelica Rescue Squad.
